One of the most fulfilling ways to improve your company’s Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (B-BBEE) score, is to investment in social development ventures. Socio-Economic Development (SED) makes up one of the seven elements that companies can focus on when becoming B-BBEE compliant. Under the current codes, companies over a certain size are required to spend 1% of their net profit after tax on Socio-Economic Development (SED). Contributions can be monetary, in the form of grants or donations, or non-monetary, in the form of professional time or services to a registered non-profit or public benefit organisation. The full value of a company’s SED contributions will be recognised as long as at least 75% of the value contributed directly benefits black beneficiaries. Under B-BBEE laws “black” is broadly defined to include South African citizens who are black, coloured, Indian or Chinese.

greenABLE is a registered non-profit company and beneficiaries are 100% previously disadvantaged persons with disabilities. Supporting greenABLE through a monetary or non-monetary contribution will score your company full SED points for the value of your contribution.
